Walk-In X-Ray Near Islington TTC Station — The Most Convenient Clinic in Etobicoke

If you’ve ever tried to get an X-ray in Toronto, you know the routine. You call around, find out there’s a wait, drive across the city, hunt for parking, and by the time you’re done, half your day is gone. I started Vitacorp because I genuinely believe diagnostic imaging shouldn’t be that hard — especially for something as quick as a chest X-ray or a bone scan.

Our clinic at Vitacorp Islington Station is built around one idea: make it easy. And if you travel by TTC, it doesn’t get easier than this.

We're Literally Connected to the Subway

This is the thing people are always surprised by. Vitacorp is located at 1243 Islington Ave, Suite 603 — and this building has a covered walkway that connects directly to Islington TTC Subway Station on the Bloor-Danforth line. You come out of the subway, walk through the building, take the elevator to the 6th floor, and you’re at our front desk. No weather. No crossing the street. No parking stress.

For patients who rely on public transit — whether by choice or necessity — that matters a lot. I’ve had patients tell me they were putting off getting imaging done because they don’t drive and didn’t want to deal with a long bus ride. When I explain that our building connects to the subway, the relief on their faces is immediate.

If you’re coming from downtown, Mississauga, or anywhere else on the Bloor-Danforth line, Islington Station is a clean ride. The station is fully accessible, with elevators, so if you’re recovering from an injury or have mobility concerns, getting to us is still manageable.

Walk In — No Appointment, No Phone Tag

We offer walk-in X-ray service Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. You don’t need to call ahead. You don’t need to book online. You bring two things: your Ontario health card and the requisition your doctor signed. That’s it.

I know some clinics technically say “walk-in” but then make you wait two hours or turn you away if it’s close to closing. We try hard not to be that clinic. We run a tight operation — our X-ray suite is efficient, our team moves quickly, and most patients are in and out in well under half an hour from the moment they walk through the door.

The X-rays themselves typically take 10 to 20 minutes. Results go directly to your referring doctor the same day, so they can follow up with you quickly. We use digital imaging, which means no film, no delays, and high-quality images your doctor can view immediately.

LifeLabs is Right Across the Hall

Here’s something worth knowing: LifeLabs has a collection centre directly across the hall from us on the 6th floor. If your doctor ordered both an X-ray and bloodwork on the same requisition, you can get both done in a single trip to 1243 Islington Ave. You take the elevator up, do your X-ray with us, walk across the hall for your blood work, and you’re done. One building. One visit.

For patients managing chronic conditions, dealing with follow-up testing after a diagnosis, or just trying to get through a pile of orders their doctor wrote, this is genuinely useful. You save time, you save transit fares, and you don’t have to coordinate two separate appointments on two separate days.

What to Bring and What to Expect

Before you come in, make sure you have:

  • Your Ontario health card (OHIP covers your X-ray)
  • The original signed requisition from your doctor — we need this to proceed

When you arrive, our front desk team will check you in, confirm the exam your doctor ordered, and get you into the X-ray suite quickly. Our technologists will explain what they’re doing at each step and let you know what position you’ll need to be in for the images. The machine is digital, so there’s no wait for film to develop.

Some X-rays require a specific position that might feel a bit awkward — a chest X-ray, for example, involves standing against the panel with your arms in a specific spot. It doesn’t hurt. It just takes a few seconds per image. If you have mobility limitations, let us know when you arrive and our team will work with you to get the images we need as comfortably as possible.

Why Patients Keep Coming Back

We’ve been serving the Etobicoke and West Toronto community for years, and the feedback we get most consistently is about our staff. People appreciate that we treat them like actual people — not just a requisition number. Our team is multilingual, which matters in a neighbourhood as diverse as the Islington-City Centre area. If English isn’t your first language, chances are someone on our team speaks yours.

The reviews we receive mention things like “fast,” “friendly,” “no stress,” and “felt cared for.” That’s not an accident. We hire for that, and we mean it. Getting imaging done when you’re not feeling well can be nerve-wracking. The last thing you need is a cold, rushed experience on top of that.

Hours and Location

We’re open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. The earlier you come in the morning, the shorter the wait tends to be. We’re located at Suite 603, 1243 Islington Ave, Etobicoke, ON — take the elevator to the 6th floor. Islington TTC Station (Bloor-Danforth line) connects directly to the building. Street parking is also available on Islington Ave if you’re driving.
