Getting Here — Every Way That Works
By subway: Take the Bloor-Danforth line (Line 2) to Islington Station. The station building connects directly to 1243 Islington Ave via a covered walkway. Take the elevator to the 6th floor and you’re at our front desk. Rain, snow, or cold — you won’t feel it.
By bus or streetcar: The 37 Islington bus runs north-south along Islington Ave, and several bus routes connect at Bloor and Islington. If you’re coming from Mimico, Long Branch, or Humber Bay, the streetcar on Lakeshore will connect you to this hub.
By car: Islington Ave and Bloor intersect cleanly, with street parking available along Islington Ave. The building at 1243 also has paid underground parking. No hunting, no circling — parking is manageable here.
A Truly Walk-In Experience
I want to be upfront about what walk-in means at Vitacorp, because the word gets abused.
Walk-in means: no appointment. Show up, check in, get your X-ray, leave. No booking a slot online, no waiting a week for availability, no callbacks. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Within those hours, you’re welcome to walk in.
The two things you need to bring are your valid Ontario health card and your signed requisition from your doctor. Those two things are non-negotiable — without them, we can’t perform the exam or bill OHIP. What Happens During Your Visit
When you arrive, our front desk team checks you in and confirms what exam was ordered. Depending on the type of X-ray, you may be asked to change into a gown for the imaging area. Our technologist will walk you through what position you’ll be in and what the machine does — there’s no radiation exposure beyond the brief scan itself, and the procedure is completely painless.
Chest X-rays, for example, usually involve standing against an upright panel, holding your breath for a second while the image is taken. A hand or wrist X-ray involves lying your hand flat on the table in specific positions for a few images. The technologist handles all of it — you just follow their instructions.
The whole thing, including check-in, changing if needed, and the scan itself, usually runs under 30 minutes for most standard walk in X-rays.

Here’s the underrated part of our location: LifeLabs has a collection centre directly across the hall from Vitacorp on the 6th floor. So if your doctor ordered both imaging and bloodwork — which is incredibly common — you can walk from one to the other without leaving the building, without rebooking, without planning a separate day.
